Viva Aerobus Announces Two New Austin Nonstop Routes to Mexico: Monterrey and Mexico City
Viva Aerobus announced that expanded travel opportunities will soon be landing at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, in direct response to customer demand. Flights will begin in June, with the arrival of two new nonstop routes between Austin and Mexico.
Austin to Mexico City, a seasonal route, will operate twice a week on Tuesday and Sundays, from June 20 to Oct. 25. Tickets are now on sale. Austin to Monterrey, a new year-round nonstop service operated only by Viva Aerobus, will fly twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, beginning June 19.
“This exciting announcement of new international service for Austin is great news for both business and leisure travelers,” said Gina Fiandaca, assistant city manager over the SD23 Mobility Outcome. “These new routes show continued confidence in the Austin market, and represent a great opportunity for both our airport and our greater Austin community.”
These are the airline’s first connections into Austin and will be on board Viva Aerobus’ Airbus A320 aircraft, part of the youngest fleet in Mexico and second youngest fleet in North America. “It is wonderful to be able to welcome our partners from Viva Aerobus to Austin, bringing increased travel options to Mexico City and a fantastic new route to Monterrey,” said Jacqueline Yaft, Chief Executive Officer for AUS.
These new routes also provide wide connectivity to U.S. passengers for a large part of the country as Viva Aerobus offers more than 32 domestic routes within Mexico from Monterrey and another 31 from Mexico City. Moreover, Viva offers travelers the possibility to connect by land to more than 100 destinations with preferential fares.
Since Viva belongs to Grupo IAMSA, the leading multimodal transport group in the country (land + air transport) travelers can take advantage of discounts of up to 50% in the most recognized Mexican bus companies.
"We are honored to serve Austin as a result of our strategy to expand Viva´s network into the U.S. We are delighted to offer visitors and residents access to our renowned value proposition: one of the youngest north American fleet of brand new A320 aircraft, great reliability, customer-focused service and market leading low fares”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus. “We look forward to providing a convenient and easy connection between these important destinations, linking our business sectors, bringing closer our Hispanic communities and a great leisure offer for our tourists,” he added.
Viva Aerobus will land in Austin with a renewed commitment to passengers’ health and well-being through its compressive program called Viva Contigo, aimed at providing a safe journey, flexibility, and low fares. Therefore, Viva has established disciplined hygiene and prevention protocols including additional disinfection processes in aircraft, luggage, and common areas, safe distance guidelines, mandatory use of face masks, among many other actions.
