In June, 1992, the UN created an international environmental treaty to stabilize atmospheric greenhouse gases. On October 5th 2021, the ICAO, a UN agency, stated that "global civil aviation operators will achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050".
With less than 28 years to go, the global aviation industry has an interesting challenge. From massive aerospace corporations to entrepreneurial start-ups, they are looking to create eco-friendly products that are also financially viable for both the manufacturer and the operator.
The three key green aviation technologies are sustainable aviation fuel, electricity and hydrogen. Some power plantplayers include: Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney Canada, GE Aviation, ZeroAvia and MagniX.
