EHang Successfully Completes BAUD Project in Spain to Improve UAS Safety and Efficiency

EHang Holdings Limited, a drone company, has announced its successful collaboration with Spain's Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) to complete the BAUD project. The project aims to enhance the operational safety and efficiency of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for logistics missions, as well as enable their integration into the European Union's U-Space airspace.

Sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism and under the Invest in Spain program of ICEX Trade and Investment, the project achieved its goals after a year of industrial research through the development of an autonomous aerial beacon. This beacon provides more precise and comprehensive positioning of UAS using EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) and Galileo's Global Navigation Satellite Systems, along with other tactical information through U-Space systems.

Flight tests were carried out at the Atlas Experimental Flight Center, using two autonomous EHang Falcon L aircraft.

The BAUD project's development is platform-independent and will enable safe UAS operation in European airspace by intelligently integrating with U-Space systems.

"We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the BAUD project, achieving all its goals and objectives. EHang welcomes public-private collaboration opportunities for research, development, and investment in the UAS field in Spain," said Victoria Xiang, CEO of EHang Europe and Latin America.

She added that this has encouraged EHang to execute several innovation projects, share EHang's world-leading technology and broad international experience in Urban Air Mobility, and strengthen the wide network of technological collaboration in Europe.
