Delta Boosts Canadian Services in September

Delta Air Lines has announced that, starting in September, it is increasing the number of daily flights between the US and Canada from eight to 19. The news comes in response to the Canadian government’s decision to reopen its borders to fully-vaccinated US travelers beginning Aug. 9.

The schedule will offer nonstop flights from multiple US hubs to Canada’s largest business and leisure markets. Toronto will see the largest increase, with 10 daily flights in September, including for the first time four daily flights between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Toronto beginning Sept. 13.

Delta will also operate more flights to Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal, as well as restarting service to Winnipeg.

By more than doubling the capacity, the carrier will increase the available seats on its flights between the two countries by about 150 percent.

Last week, Air Canada also announced its summer schedule which will offer up to 220 daily flights between the US and Canada, including service to destinations such as Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

“We’ve looked forward to the vital gateways between these two countries reopening and ensured that our customers have the choice and connectivity they need when booking their trips,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president, network planning.
