Bombardier reported this morning that it has received its largest order of the year: a 20-aircraft commitment for its newly announced super-midsize Challenger 3500. The firm order, placed by an unidentified customer, is worth more than $500 million dollars based on list prices.

The follow-on to the OEM’s popular Challenger 350, the new model is expected to enter service in the second half of next year. It offers a redesigned cabin featuring Bombardier’s Nuage seat, first developed for its Global aircraft family.

Other improvements to the super-midsize twinjet include the industry’s first voice-controlled cabin; strategically placed wireless chargers; 24-inch 4K video displays; and a cabin altitude more than 30 percent lower than its predecessor. On the flight deck, autothrottle is a standard feature. Designed with sustainability in mind, the aircraft will be the first in its segment with an Environmental Product Declaration, and customers can opt for high-end sustainable cabin furnishings.
