BAA Training Soars: 48 New Skyhawks Propel Pilot Education in Europe

BAA Training, a leader in aviation training solutions, made a groundbreaking announcement on Thursday regarding a significant expansion of its aircraft fleet.

The company is set to acquire 48 Cessna 172 Skyhawks from Textron Aviation, marking a crucial milestone in the development of Europe's largest pilot training base, located in Spain. With a vision to accommodate up to 1000 students annually, BAA Training is dedicated to shaping the future of aviation by providing top-notch training facilities and resources.

Marijus Ravoitis, CEO of BAA Training, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition, stating, "At BAA Training, we are committed to shaping the future of aviation by providing top-notch training facilities and resources. This strategic acquisition will significantly increase our aircraft fleet, enabling us to effectively train up to 1000 pilots per year. Approximately 200 cadets will be supplied to our parent company, which owns 12 airlines." The fleet expansion is poised to markedly enhance the student-to-aircraft ratio, ensuring a more conducive learning environment and better training opportunities.

The newly acquired aircraft will be equipped with state-of-the-art glass cockpits that replicate real airline environments, providing invaluable practical experience. Integrated with the advanced Garmin G1000 system, these aircraft will boast exceptional capabilities, including precision navigation, weather control, and enhanced situational awareness.

While BAA Training's primary flight base is currently located at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport, the newly acquired planes will operate in Spain. A supplementary flight base is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024, followed by additional openings in 2025 and 2026 across other parts of Europe.

Consequently, the distribution of the new aircraft will be based on the demand across these flight bases. The expansion underscores BAA Training's commitment to advancing aviation education and meeting the growing demands of the industry.
