Alaska Expands British Airways Codeshare

US carrier has added 188 codeshare routes with its Oneworld partners since joining the alliance in March.

Alaska Airlines is expanding its codeshare with British Airways, a long-time partner and fellow Oneworld Alliance member. The expansion places BA’s code on 16 additional routes in Alaska Air’s West Coast network beyond Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, connecting those flights with British Airways’ nonstop services from London Heathrow.

Alaska Airlines joined Oneworld earlier this year, and since then has added 188 additional codeshare routes – an increase of 39 percent. The airline has launched new codeshare agreements with fellow Oneworld carriers Qatar Airways and Iberia Airlines, and expanded cooperation with existing alliance partners American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Finnair.

Altogether, these six Oneworld airlines currently offer 16 daily international flights to Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The codeshare agreements enable customers to connect seamlessly to Alaska’s comprehensive network up and down the West Coast.

“Alaska guests have valued access to London and Europe with British Airways for years, and the additional pathways announced today will make it even more convenient,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at Alaska Airlines.

In addition to deepening its Oneworld connections, Alaska Air has also been expanding its own route network and enhancing its service offerings with new lounges – most recently opening its seventh at San Francisco International Airport. Memberships are available for a fee, and complimentary to Alaska Airline’s first class customers and select Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members.
