Airbus and PHI Group Join Forces for Next-Gen Helicopters in the Energy Sector

In a landmark collaboration, Airbus Helicopters and PHI Group (PHI) have inked a groundbreaking agreement poised to reshape the landscape of global energy services. This strategic partnership encompasses the acquisition of 20 H175 super-medium helicopters and eight H160 helicopters, with a primary focus on enhancing offshore operations in the worldwide energy market. This comprehensive arrangement comprises firm orders as well as flexible purchase options that PHI can exercise during the agreement's term.

PHI Group's CEO, Scott McCarty, underlined their unwavering commitment to spearheading the industry in the operation of the safest and most reliable helicopter fleet. McCarty commented, "This agreement is a pivotal component of our overarching strategy to introduce cutting-edge technology into an industry that has experienced a robust resurgence following years of divestment. We eagerly anticipate our ongoing collaboration with Airbus as we prepare to deploy these helicopters alongside our clients across the globe."

Airbus Helicopters' CEO, Bruno Even, expressed pride in the continuous partnership with PHI, an enterprise renowned for its leadership in innovation and safety. He extended his appreciation to PHI for reposing trust in the H160 and augmenting their fleet with the H175 for long-distance missions. Even underscored the pivotal role of passenger safety, economic competitiveness, and energy efficiency in capturing today's dynamic markets, emphasizing that both the H160 and H175 represent dependable choices for the years to come.

PHI boasts a remarkable 74-year legacy of supporting the energy industry. Presently, PHI operates a fleet of over 200 helicopters worldwide, catering to diverse markets, including energy and air medical services. PHI's Airbus helicopter fleet encompasses various models from the H125, H135, H145, H160, and the most recent addition, the H175.

The H175, in operation since 2015, belongs to the super-medium helicopter class, combining an extended range with impeccable flight characteristics, rendering it an ideal solution for diverse mission profiles such as offshore crew changes, public services, and private and corporate aviation. The existing 54 H175 helicopters in service have collectively amassed approximately 195,000 flight hours, with 170,000 dedicated to the energy sector.

Engineered as a versatile multi-role helicopter capable of executing a wide spectrum of missions, the H160 integrates Airbus' latest technological advancements. With its streamlined maintenance plan, the H160 optimizes operational costs and sets a new benchmark for availability. Fueled by two state-of-the-art Arrano engines from Safran Helicopter Engines, it delivers a 15% reduction in fuel consumption. Both the H175 and H160 are certified to operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, reinforcing their commitment to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

This formidable partnership between Airbus Helicopters and PHI Group stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to meeting the ever-expanding demands of the global energy market, all while prioritizing safety, innovation, and sustainability.
